Beguines Statues in Breda

The two statues in the picture are representations of Beguines. The statues are situated in the courtyard in front of the Begijnhof Museum (Beguines Museum) in Breda.

The Beguines were Christian orders that were active in Northern Europe during the in 13th–16th centuries.

Although Beguines did not take formal religious vows, they lived in semi-monastic communities and carried out many good deeds.
