Till Receipts in Serbia Are Sometimes Very Skinny!

Dear Travel Diary

Some of the till receipts in Serbia are very narrow. The first time a shop assistant handed me such a skinny receipt I got quite a surprise. I’d never seen a till receipt like it before. It was less than half the width of the receipts I’ve received in other areas of Europe.

I’m not criticising, only making an observation. There’s actually a lot to be said for keeping things small. Apart from probably being cheaper for shops to purchase by the roll, these thin Serbian till receipts waste less paper and, therefore, place less of a drain on natural resources.

One of the best things about travelling is it expands the mind and lets you see there are different ways of doing things, even mundane tasks like printing till receipts.

One of the strangest things of all is the mixture of Cyrillic and Latin letters on the till receipts in Serbia. Believe it or not, they often have both. I find that interesting. It means Serbian people must have a good grasp of both alphabets.

Till Receipts in Serbia are often written in two alphabets - the Latin alphabet and Cyrillic script
